Stuart SC130–SC500 (3rd gen board)
Cuber with a one-digit display, RESET, MANUAL DEFROST, CLEAN, FILL and ice thickness + / – buttons. Faults show as a flashing number with matching beeps, and the last five faults are stored.
What it is: Cube ice machine. Machines fitted with the 3rd generation control board.
Key combo: During freeze: hold RESET 3 s until a dash shows, release, then use MANUAL DEFROST to pick a diagnostic number and hold RESET to open it.
Stuart SC130–SC500 (3rd gen board) error codes
| Code | Meaning | Likely cause | How to reset |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | Did not fill with water in 3 minutes | Water off, restricted or frozen supply, blocked solenoid strainer or filter, faulty solenoid, float or pump | Retries every hour until water returns. Press RESET to try straight away. |
| 4 | Did not make ice in 40 minutes (low float did not drop) | Partial loss of refrigerant, fan motor, dirty condenser, compressor, hot gas solenoid stuck open, expansion valve | Press RESET, or switch off and on at the power point. |
| 5 | Did not defrost in 7 minutes (curtains did not signal) | Hot gas solenoid, dirty plate, curtain switch, low charge, ice too thin to open the curtain | Press RESET, or switch off and on. |
| 9 | High pressure fault (over 3100 kPa) | Dirty condenser, failed fan, pressure sensor, compressor, very hot site | Fix the cause, then press RESET. |
| 8 (10 beeps, flashes 10 times) | Service due: 3000 hours of ice making | Clean reminder | Repeats hourly until a clean cycle is run. The counter then restarts. |

Settings and limits
| Code | What it does | Range | Default / typical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purge (diag 4) | Water dumped each cycle, aim for 5–10% of ice weight | 1 (min) to 0 (max) | factory |
| Ice thickness | Ice weight per cycle | 0–9 | factory |
| Fill limit | Time to reach the high float | fixed | 3 min |
| Ice make limit | Time for the low float to drop | fixed | 40 min |
| Defrost limit | Time for the curtains to open | fixed | 7 min |
| High pressure | Trip point | fixed | 3100 kPa |
| Service reminder | Ice making hours between cleans | fixed | 3000 h |
| Board fuse | Main board fuse | — | 3.15 A slow-blow HRC ceramic (no glass fuses) |
How to change a setting
- Water purge: open diagnostic number 4 as above, then press CLEAN to step the purge from 1 (least) to 0 (most). Hold RESET to return. This only works during freeze.
- Ice thickness: press + for thicker (heavier) ice or – for thinner, range 0–9. Set the purge first.
- All buttons except ice thickness need holding 3–5 seconds before they act.
Other useful key presses
| Task | How |
|---|---|
| Warm-up cycle | At power-up the machine defrosts for 2 min then runs the pump 3 min. Press RESET to skip it on first start-up. |
Notes
- The machine makes two attempts at fill, ice making and defrost before it stops on a fault.
