Scotsman NW307–NW1408
Modular cuber with an ice thickness probe, magnetic deflector (bin) switch, water level sensor and a row of LEDs that report alarms. Faults are cleared with the MODE button.
What it is: Modular cube ice machine. NW307, 308, 457, 458, 607, 608, 707, 708, 1008, 1408.
Key combo: Most shut-downs reset by pressing MODE, which sends the machine back to the start-up cycle.
Scotsman NW307–NW1408 error codes
| Code | Meaning | Likely cause | How to reset |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last two red LEDs on steady | Condenser sensor out of order | Sensor or wiring | Replace the sensor, then press MODE. |
| Last two red LEDs blinking slow | Water error: sump level too low 3 or 6 min after the inlet valve opened (DIP 4) | Water off, low pressure, blocked inlet valve or filter | Recovers by itself: every 30 min the inlet opens for 180 s and the machine restarts once full. |
| Last two red LEDs blinking fast | Water error recovery in progress | Refilling after a water error | — |
| 4th red LED on steady | Harvest too long three times (time set by DIP 3) | Hot gas valve, deflector / magnetic switch, ice not releasing | Press MODE. |
| 4th red LED blinking slow | Condensing temperature over 70 °C | Dirty condenser, fan fault, hot room | Resets by itself the first two times. On the third trip it stops; press MODE. |
| 5th red LED on steady | Discharge pressure over 33 bar (460 psi) | Dirty condenser, fan fault, water-cooled supply | Resets by itself twice, then stops; press MODE. |
| 4th red + 2nd green LED blinking fast | Freeze too long five times | Low charge, ice thickness sensor, water distribution | Press MODE. |
| 3rd yellow + 4th red LED blinking fast | Ice thickness sensor fault (reads ice at start-up) | Dirty or shorted sensor | Clean or replace the sensor, then press MODE. |
| Bin full LED | Bin full (deflector open more than 30 s) | Normal | Restarts when the deflector closes, after at least 3 min. |
Reset mode
- The board can be set to manual reset mode, where every stop needs MODE pressed to restart.
Key limits
| Code | What it does | Range | Default / typical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ice sensor contact | Water bridging the probe fingers this long starts harvest | fixed | 6 s |
| Freeze back-up | If the ice sensor fails, harvest starts anyway | fixed | 30 or 40 min (fan dependent) |
| Bin full | Deflector open this long stops the machine | fixed | 30 s |
| Restart delay | Minimum off time after a bin-full stop | fixed | 3 min |
| High pressure cut-out | Discharge pressure stop | fixed | 33 bar / 460 psi |
| Condenser cut-out | High condensing temperature stop | fixed | 70 °C |
| Water error check | Time allowed to fill the sump | DIP 4 | 3 or 6 min |
How to change a setting (DIP switch)
- Isolate power.
- Set the DIP switches on the PC board (water fill time, harvest time limit and fan / fill options).
- Restore power.
For licensed technicians only. This equipment can involve mains voltage, high-voltage microwave circuits, gas and refrigerant. Isolate power (and gas) before opening panels, follow the manufacturer's manual and your local licensing rules (for example ARC refrigerant handling and electrical or gas licences). Wrong settings can spoil food or damage equipment. Check every value on the unit in front of you before changing it.
