Dixell iChill IC100CX series
Two-line controller for small air or water chillers and heat pumps. Codes show on the lower display, alternating with the probe reading, and most alarms switch to manual reset if they repeat too often in an hour.
What it is: Chiller and heat pump controller. The original IC100CX range. The newer IC100CX EVO uses a different alarm code list and is not covered here.
Key combo: Hold SET + DOWN for a few seconds for Pr1. Pick Pr2 and enter the service password for factory parameters.
Dixell iChill IC100CX series error codes
| Code | Meaning | Likely cause | How to reset |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1–P4 | Probe 1 to 4 fault | Probe faulty or disconnected | Resets by itself when the reading recovers. |
| A01 | High pressure switch alarm | High pressure input open | Automatic at first; becomes manual after the number of trips set in AL10. |
| A02 | Low pressure switch alarm | Low pressure input open | Automatic at first; becomes manual after repeated trips within an hour. |
| A03 | Low supply (leaving) temperature | Probe 1 below the AR03 limit for AR05 seconds | Automatic when the temperature rises above AR03 + AR04. |
| A04 | Low air temperature leaving the evaporator | Probe 2 below AR03 for AR05 seconds | Automatic; becomes manual after Ar06 events in an hour. |
| A05 | High condensing temperature / pressure | Probe 3 or 4 above AL11 | Automatic; becomes manual after repeated events. Check condenser and fans. |
| A06 | Low condensing temperature / pressure | Probe 3 or 4 below AL14 | Automatic; becomes manual after repeated events. |
| A07 | Anti-freeze alarm | Anti-freeze input active, or anti-freeze probe below AR03 (chiller) / AR27 (heat pump) | Automatic; becomes manual after Ar06 events in an hour. |
| A08 | Evaporator water flow alarm | Flow switch open (ignored for AL04 after pump start) | Automatic once flow returns for AL07; manual if it stays open for AL05. |
| A09 | Compressor 1 overload | Compressor 1 thermal protection input active | Manual reset once the cause is cleared. |
| A10 | Compressor 2 overload | Compressor 2 thermal protection input active | Manual reset once the cause is cleared. |
| A11 | Condenser fan overload | Fan thermal protection input active | Manual reset once the cause is cleared. |
| A12 | Defrost ended on time | Defrost reached its maximum time (dF07) | Clears on the next good defrost, or reset manually. |
| A13 | Compressor 1 service due | Run hours above CO14 | Reset the run-hour counter in the menu. |
| A14 | Compressor 2 service due | Run hours above CO15 | Reset the run-hour counter in the menu. |
| A15 | Water pump / supply fan service due | Run hours above CO16 | Reset the run-hour counter in the menu. |
| A16 | High evaporator inlet water temperature | Inlet reading above AL24 (ignored for AL26 after compressor start) | Automatic below AL24 − AL25; manual after repeated events. |
| A17 | Evaporator pump / supply fan overload | Thermal protection input active | Manual reset once the cause is cleared. |
| A18 | Condenser water pump overload | Thermal protection input active | Manual reset once the cause is cleared. |
| A19 | Condenser water flow alarm | Condenser flow switch open (only if AL32 is not 0) | Automatic once flow returns for AL31; manual if it stays open for AL29. |
| A20 | Condenser pump service due | Run hours above CO28 | Reset the run-hour counter. |
| rtC | Clock needs setting | Real time clock lost its time | Set the clock, then reset the alarm. |
| rtF | Clock fault | Clock circuit failed | Reset manually; replace the controller if it returns. |
| EE | Memory error | Possible loss of stored data | Check all parameters, then reset. Replace the controller if it returns. |
| ACF1–ACF5 | Configuration alarm | Parameters contradict each other (for example heat pump set up without a reversing valve, or two inputs given the same job) | Correct the configuration parameters. |
| AFr | Supply frequency alarm | Mains frequency out of range | Check the power supply. |
How to enter service / parameter mode
- Hold SET + DOWN for a few seconds. The upper display shows ALL, the first parameter group.
- Scroll the groups with UP / DOWN and press SET to open one.
- For factory (Pr2) parameters, find Pr2 in Pr1 and press SET. Pas shows with a flashing 0.
- Enter the service password with UP / DOWN and press SET to confirm.
How to change and save a setting
- Open Pr1 or Pr2 and select the parameter.
- Press SET to show its value.
- Change it with UP or DOWN.
- Press SET to store it.
Other useful key presses
| Task | How |
|---|---|
| View and reset active alarms | Open the menu function, scroll to ALrM and press SET. rSt means the alarm can be reset now; NO means the cause is still there. |
| Alarm log | Stored in the menu; holds the last 50 alarms, oldest dropped first. |
| Silence the buzzer | Press and release any key. |
Notes
- Pressure and flow alarms switch from automatic to manual reset after the number of events per hour set in their parameters. Repeated trips point to a real fault, not a nuisance.
For licensed technicians only. This equipment can involve mains voltage, high-voltage microwave circuits, gas and refrigerant. Isolate power (and gas) before opening panels, follow the manufacturer's manual and your local licensing rules (for example ARC refrigerant handling and electrical or gas licences). Wrong settings can spoil food or damage equipment. Check every value on the unit in front of you before changing it.
